Indeed, I was watching Donna Crouch's talk 'Supergirl grows up' (I think it's based on her book) and had a lot of laughs. She's an engaging and funny speaker and she definitely made me think. Forces me to consider actually going to Colour women's conference next year...
All of a sudden, I've taken this slightly obsessive stance on India and its culture, politics, history, people. Regarding that social theory paper, I'm researching India's rise in nationalism and postcolonial state.
Maybe it's the influence of Bride & Prejudice(!) and Zadie Smith's characters. Not entirely sure. Oh, and the 4u English paper I wrote - about...Indians. Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things and V.S. Naipaul's A House for Mr Biswas could just about do that actually - saturate me with a taste for Indian culture, which translates into a later subconscious preference for all things Indian.
Hah! Maybe I'll marry an Indian.
But really, right now I feel like having a warm bowl of butter chicken tikka and rice with lots of sauce. Mmmm.

PS I'm really disappointed, sad, miffed, angry, frustrated, upset (and I'm wallowing!) about Anne getting out of Aus idol. She doesn't deserve to go out so early! She's gracious, beautiful, bubbly, humble - supergirl!
