my search for good books and better music continues...I haven't read a good book in ages, last one I read the whole way through was Memoirs of a Geisha for 6 hours straight on a flight from Singapore to Sydney. Waiting for that next really outstanding book to come along...the one that (since Winter's on its way) I can curl up with under the doona and have a really nice cup of tea. I love cold days taken with cups of tea...a chai tea latte would be good right now seeing as i've got a killer sore throat...there goes singing for Brian's birthday on friday night...maybe i can just accompany my brother on the piano and he can sing both the girl's and guy's parts at the same time?!?! mental note to take it down a few keys at least...
any suggestions for good books?
trying to finish (mostly in vain):
The Blind Assassin - Margaret Atwood
The Iron Lance - Stephen Lawhead
Garden of Venus (again a random book picked up at that cheap bookstore near central...and yes I do believe it lives up to the name...haven't gotten there yet)
on the want list:
Pucchini's Ghosts
The life of Pi
Gotan project has released another album thankfully: Lunatico (i bet it means lunatic..like all of us musicians)...still listening to La Revancha del Tango...the good ones never die. And my new find for the week has been True Live - a Melbourne based alternative group. They sort of sound like The Cat Empire..but without the brass and the heavy wog accent...
music playing (on my new mac laptop!!):
John Legend - Get Lifted (again)
Craig David - the Story Goes
Kirk Franklin - hero *may check out his outro. i like very much
Javier - Left of Centre (SOO good)
and as always there's jazz in there...
trying desperately to remember the counts for the rubies dance to could've been by kirk franklin. can't believe filming is so soon! still have 8x8 counts in there i can't for the life of me remember...if in doubt repeat chorus right?!
